Wedding Gowns
When you've tried all the dresses out there and haven't been able to say 'Yes to the Dress' it might be time to consider a custom gown or redesign of a vintage gown. With over 20 years of professional custom clothing experience, Cherie can take your wedding dress ideas and make them a reality. Her expertise in patterning and corsetry gives her the perfect skills to create a family heirloom to be handed down for generations.
The Process. . .
We begin with a one on one consultation so I can get to know you and talk about your ideas. Then I sit with a cup of coffee and begin sketching... turning your spoken words into images so you can see them come to life. Patterning is done by draping muslin fabric directly to your unique shape to accentuate all the right curves. A muslin pattern is sewn together for your first fitting. L.A. has one of the largest collections of fine textiles in the country and so we make a day of it by visiting some of my favorite suppliers so you can touch and feel the fabrics we will use. Before leaving, we grab a bite to eat at one of the many downtown eateries and talk some more about your design ideas. Precise cutting of your beautiful fabrics is what comes next...then, careful seaming of each piece. A structured inter-lining is created to give you the best possible support and fit. Layers of satins, silks, laces or tulle are artistically combined and adorned with hand-beading, pearl buttons, crystals or trims to create your one of a kind gown.
Daughter of a Designer
As a designer, it was an amazing experience to be able to create my daughter's wedding gown. Jordan tried on many beautiful designer dresses and just didn't find what she wanted. Sometimes that just happens. She is a wonderful artist and was able to provide me with sketches of her ideas. We began with a simple muslin to create the pattern. Her December wedding was perfect for long sleeves and she chose this vine patterned beaded lace. I love the idea of using different textures and colors. A combination of ivory satin and tulle under this pure white beaded lace created the beautiful layering effect. After hours of hand sewing, these cascading beads of crystals and pearls flowed seamlessly from her waist to the hem. The perfect gown for a winter wedding.
Redesign
You may have seen photos of your mother's or grandmother's wedding dress and thought about wearing it for your wedding day. Well, let's see if we can make that happen. With a little creativity and modification we can redesign that dress to create an updated look for you. At your first fitting you will try on your dress, we'll evaluate the fit, structure, and talk about changes you might like to make.
Special Occasion
Cherie and her design team are ready to make any type of special occasion dress you need.
